Advanced Counsellor Training

With HIV/AIDS, one faces daily, overwhelming challenges.

Counsellors play a central role in the clinic team by supporting patients through social and mental difficulty. Each counsellor takes care of an allocated set of patients and families, with which they build long-term supportive relationships. They make a significant contribution to holistic care through their understanding of cultural differences.

Unfortunately many counsellors in our country have not had access to extensive training and lack the complex skill-set needed for their challenging task. Our Advanced Counsellor Training (ACT) course has been of great benefit to counsellors working for Kidzpositive, FAMSA, the Adonis Musati Project, the YMCA, the Desmond Tutu HIV/AIDS Foundation and other NGO’s in the field of HIV/AIDS care.
